Hello everyone, I have a Malm bed from Ikea that has been creaking with every movement for some time now. The noise mainly occurs when getting up or turning over in bed and is quite annoying. I have already tried tightening the screws slightly, but that didn’t help much. Is there a systematic approach or specific areas to check and maintain in order to eliminate this creaking? Maybe suitable lubricants or assembly tips would also be helpful. I’d like to solve the problem without major disassembly or expensive replacement parts. Thanks in advance for your advice!

4. Lubricant: Silicone oil is well suited. Never use standard oil, as it causes the wood to swell or stick.I agree with that, and I would add: The idea that the bed creaks to wake you up is charming but unfortunately not very helpful. 😉
Seriously, I simply used a bit of silicone spray back then, especially on the joints between the slatted frame and the bed frame – since then, no more noise. It’s best to do this in the evening so you can immediately test if it’s improved. Good luck and don’t stress, usually it’s just small issues that are easy to fix. 🙂
