Hello everyone, I have an Ikea Malm bed that has been squeaking constantly at night and increasingly disturbing my sleep. I suspect the squeaking comes from the connections between the slats and the frame or from the screws, but I’m not entirely sure. My question to you is: How can I effectively reduce the noise of the Malm bed without having to carry out major repairs or taking the bed apart? Are there any household remedies or proven techniques you could recommend to minimize these annoying sounds? It would be great if you could address possible causes and suggest simple solutions. Thank you in advance for your help!

Then apply a little baby powder or talcum powder to the spots

That’s a good tip, thank you for adding that!

I would like to add that baby powder or talcum powder can actually help reduce friction between the wooden slats and the frame without having to loosen the screws. However, you should make sure the powder doesn’t become too coarse or damp, otherwise it will clump.

An alternative to this is very thin felt pads, which are often used for furniture feet. These can also be glued between the slats of the bed base and the frame.

@CHUKWUDI: How is the situation with your issue—is there any improvement yet or have you been able to find exactly where the noise is coming from?
