Hi!
I have a question: how do you actually make apple juice? I have two old apple trees in my garden, and most of the apples spoil because we never manage to eat them all. Also, they’re not really good for eating. So recently, I thought I could make juice from them. Thanks for your information...

Hi!
Could you please name a few apple varieties that are well suited for making apple juice? Honestly, I don't even know which variety I have myself. These apple trees have been on the property for a very long time, even before I bought it. The apples do taste sweet, though...

By now, there are so many apple varieties that even experts can lose track. New varieties continue to be developed and "born" all the time. I can give you a few examples.
Sweet apple varieties:
- Golden Delicious: sweet and aromatic
- Jonagold: sweet with a mild acidity
- Gala Royal: sweet and aromatic
- Elstar: strong aroma
- Cox Orange
You can also make syrup from apple juice. For this, you need 400 grams (14 oz) of sugar per 1/2 kilogram (1 lb) of juice. Combine the apple juice and sugar in a pot, heat it up, and stir until the sugar is fully dissolved. Let it boil for about 15 minutes, skimming off any foam. Finally, pour the syrup into clean, sterilized twist-off bottles.
The syrup can then be diluted with mineral water or tap water and makes a very refreshing drink.

Hi Gartengestaltung!
Thank you for your explanation. Such a syrup is certainly good, and you can make a lot of good juice with just a little syrup. I’m already looking forward to autumn when the apples are ripe. Hopefully, this time I will put my intentions into practice!
