Hi,
I’m invited to a party this weekend where everyone is supposed to bring a salad. I thought about making a potato salad, but I don’t know the recipe. How can I make a salad that everyone will like?
Thanks, Hauser

Hello Hauser,
I got my potato salad recipe from my grandmother, and she shared this trick with me. You need to peel and slice the potatoes while they are still hot. Then take 0.25 liters (about 8.5 fl oz) of hot broth and pour it over the warm potatoes. This will make the salad nice and moist, don’t worry, the broth will be fully absorbed.

Hello,
for me, it’s only a proper salad when there is a lot of mayonnaise in it. This is probably not the original recipe, but that’s how we always make it. I know some use broth, but with mayo it tastes much better.
Best regards

Hi,
I traditionally prepare the salad with onions and potatoes, and when I want something a bit different, I add a cucumber. That way, it’s less dry, but it can’t be stored for as long.

Hello,
for a perfect salad, the oil is very important, so use only good-quality neutral oil. Under no circumstances should you use olive oil because its flavor always stands out and it completely spoils the taste.

Hello user,
I especially enjoy the salad when it has plenty of garlic in it. But since you mentioned you’re making it for a party and garlic might not be the best choice, it’s better to use chives instead.
