Hello,

we will be moving into our house soon, which does not yet have exterior plastering. This is planned to be done in autumn 2019 or spring 2020.

However, until then, we already need a mailbox, house number, and outdoor lighting.

What is the best way to approach this?

I am thinking that when the exterior plaster is applied, everything will have to be removed again, and the anchors will be covered by the plaster.

Would it be better, for example, to put up a cheap freestanding mailbox as a temporary solution instead of mounting an expensive one directly onto the unfinished wall and painting the house number on the wall? Or just buy what you intend to keep for a longer period?

That only applies for the period until the building acceptance inspection, so probably just shortly before moving in.

My question was more about the time until the exterior plastering (which will be in about 1 year). The house will already be occupied by us then.

Free-standing mailbox, since the number is displayed on it. The number can also be applied nicely to the front door glass using a car decal, which would then be a permanent solution. A free-standing mailbox can also be a lasting option; there are not only cheap solutions available.

Outdoor lighting is simply a bulb with a socket.
The mailbox and house number are attached to a pallet.

In case someone wants to move them.

You can get an outdoor mailbox relatively cheaply; if I were you, I would do the same instead of nailing the thing directly to the wall. I believe you can also put the house number on the mailbox, as someone mentioned earlier – it just needs to be clearly visible so people can find the house easily.
