willicooper19 Dec 2013 16:31Hello everyone,
We have purchased a plot of land where a semi-detached house is to be attached to an existing semi-detached house. This largely rules out standard catalog homes. So far, we have seriously considered three different builders, and we have made significant progress with one of them. However, it now seems we have to start over, as the business credit report for this provider looks unfavorable, and there has apparently been a recent company restructuring.
About the project:
Solid masonry semi-detached house, KfW 70 standard, 7 x 12 m (23 x 39 feet), to be attached to an existing house
1 1/2 storeys with a basement and converted studio
Garage (also to be attached to the existing building) 4 x 7 m (13 x 23 feet)
We are looking for a fixed price and a relatively reliable completion date.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as long as it does not refer to the top two builders from the Focus customer survey (the one near the park in Kaarst – inflexible and expensive; the other – as mentioned above). Private messages are also welcome.
Regards,
willicooper

toxicmolotof19 Dec 2013 20:23Next year, we are building a custom house with an architect in the Rhein-Kreis-Neuss area. We didn’t consider working with developers at all, mainly because we had to resolve many detailed issues that no developer was willing to handle. Our architect convinced us by taking care of these details as a natural part of the planning process. Therefore, we entrusted the entire project to him.

willicooper20 Dec 2013 13:41Thank you all for your answers,
Of course, the zoning plan, design guidelines, and the neighbor’s data (section drawing and floor plan) are available—we’re not planning blindly. Our ideas are already quite specific, so in my opinion, any provider should be able to come up with a proposal fairly quickly.
The developer of our new neighbor is no longer in business, which is why their semi-detached house stands quite alone ;-). Otherwise, they would have been one of my first points of contact.
Best regards and happy holidays
