I am looking for a way to detect if a key is left in the front door lock.
Background: My wife insists on unlocking the front door with a key and then regularly leaves it inserted from the outside. Our neighborhood is not the safest, and the car key is attached to it as well.
I want to make sure that the key is not left in the lock all night and that the home security system triggers an alarm if all the lights go out in the evening while a key is still in the lock. Does anyone have any ideas or know of a lock cylinder that can provide such a notification?

Traumfaenger17 Feb 2019 21:36Somehow, all the solutions mentioned above are more or less complex and are not ready-made products available on the market. The simplest solution would be: just take the key from your wife and ask her to ring the doorbell when she wants to come in. The cheapest doorbell online costs 7.65 EUR and can be easily installed.
