Hello everyone,

we are currently considering which type of patio door to choose.
We are undecided and have done some online research.
I would appreciate it if you could add any points or correct any mistakes.

Lift-and-slide door:
- used to be less airtight, now equally airtight
- better sound and thermal insulation
- little to no threshold
- only open/close function
- more expensive
- more stable/durable

Tilt-and-slide door:
- equally airtight
- better protection against forced entry due to mushroom-head locks
- threshold present
- tilt function available
- less expensive
- less stable/durable

Most likely, these points do not tell the whole story, so I would be interested to hear which option you chose and why.

Thanks and best regards

Hi,

although I wrote something in the thread with the link back then as well:
1. Decided on PSK because of price (visibly cheaper)
2. Disadvantages of PSK include, among others, the inward swing in the interior
3. Today I regret the decision and would definitely choose a lift-and-slide door.

Thank you all. I have now read through the other topic as well. Unfortunately, there are no indications there regarding insulation, soundproofing, or burglary protection. These aspects are important for us; a difference of 1000 EUR up or down is rather secondary. Of course, a tilt-and-slide door with a low-profile threshold would be interesting, if such a thing actually exists.
