Hello,

we have purchased a house with a 500sqm (5400 sq ft) plot and are currently busy renovating. The property also includes a decent lawn area. We now need to buy a lawn mower. Do you have any recommendations... petrol, battery-powered, or corded electric? And if so, why? I don’t want anything fancy, just a practical tool to get the job done. Budget is max 300€.

Is there perhaps a great model you can recommend?

Thanks and best regards

It is. The type “well-built do-it-yourself mower” or the type “potbelly” (robotic lawn mower).

PS I don’t have a robot.

A few days ago, I asked myself the same question and despite my interest in technology, I decided against a robot mower and ordered a Makita DLM432 battery-powered mower. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been delivered yet, so I can’t say anything about handling at this point...

The Husqvarna Automower 305 from last year is currently available at a relatively low price! Around 700-750€. Add 150€ for the installation kit, and then you have a reliable solution for up to 600m² (6458 sq ft) of lawn area.

For a 500m2 (approximately 5,382 sq ft) lawn, the battery needs to be quite powerful, especially if the grass is a bit wet—it won’t cope otherwise. Alternatively, you could use two batteries.

If that’s not enough, then petrol-powered or a robotic mower is the way to go, but those tend to cost closer to 500 euros rather than 300. In this price range, Worx is really the best option.
