ᐅ Kallax dull after deep cleaning – how to restore its shine?

Hello everyone,
I recently gave my Kallax shelf a thorough deep cleaning because it had become quite dusty and stained after years of use. I carefully removed all deposits using a mild cleaning agent. However, I noticed that the surface has become significantly duller than before and no longer has its original nice shine.
For clarity: This is a Kallax with melamine-coated surfaces, not a real wood finish.
My question: Is there a way to restore these surfaces after such a deep cleaning to make them shiny and refreshed like they originally were? I want to avoid damaging the surface or making things worse with unsuitable products.
What experiences or recommendations do you have, perhaps specific care products or techniques? Thank you in advance!

The surfaces felt a bit rougher afterwards than beforeWell, then your Kallax practically has a new skin sensation :-)
Jokes aside: If the surface has become rough, it likely means that fine micro-damages or openings in the protective layer were caused during cleaning. This is often not a big issue and can actually be improved visually!
My advice: Try applying a care product with a light wax content (for example, from furniture stores for melamine-coated furniture). Less is more here! You can gently work it in with a soft cloth and then polish – this often significantly improves the shine.
Note: Avoid "wax clouds" to prevent a sticky appearance. If that doesn’t help, you still have the option to carefully treat the shelf (without disassembly) using very fine abrasive fleece followed by a polishing sponge – but only as a last resort, since this can go wrong 😉
Fingers crossed! 🙂
