Hello everyone,
I have a Kallax shelf unit from IKEA with the popular rolling boxes that can be stored inside. The problem is the following: Whenever I pull out or push in the boxes, they sometimes fall out. This is not only annoying but can also cause damage.
My question to you is:
What is the best way to prevent the rolling boxes in the Kallax shelf from falling out when pulling them out or pushing them in?
Are there any practical tips, modifications, or accessories that can solve this issue?
I look forward to your answers and advice – experience-based tips are especially welcome!
Thanks in advance!

Install metal or plastic end stops at the ends of the railsThis is certainly the most professional solution. Additionally, I would recommend cleaning and lubricating the sliding rails regularly. Dirt or dry rails increase the risk of the drawers rolling out too quickly and uncontrollably.
Applying a slight pressure when the drawer is closed can also help keep the drawers more stable. This minimizes the chance of them falling out when pulled.

regularly clean and lubricateAbsolutely. A well-lubricated track not only runs quieter but also prevents sudden jerking or falling out. Sometimes the issue is not the construction itself but a lack of maintenance.
Additionally, I occasionally use a small silicone bumper that cushions the boxes when they are fully extended.
Thank you very much for the many tips and explanations!
I especially find the idea of using metal stops or small rubber bumpers convincing. I will first check whether I can install such stoppers effectively without altering the frame too much.
I have also noted the advice regarding regular maintenance of the tracks and will include that in my plan right away.
One quick follow-up question: Does anyone have experience with hook-and-loop fasteners? Do they hold up well under daily use, and do they negatively affect the smooth running or stability of the rolling boxes?
