ᐅ Is there a hair strainer or hair trap available for linear shower drains?

Hello,

The drain in our shower is already starting to weaken, and we have only been living in the house for 15 months.
We have a linear shower drain from Geberit. The cover is regularly removed, and some hair always gets caught on the black plastic prongs. However, I’m afraid that a lot of hair is passing through and now clogging the pipe. I have ordered a professional product (PEIP F drain cleaner) to fix this. Hopefully, it works!

Is there an additional hair strainer that can be used with linear shower drains? I haven’t really found anything on this. I would like to take preventive measures in the future.

Thank you and best regards

I installed the same channel drain (Geberit CleanLine 20). There is no separate hair strainer, not even as an optional accessory. The comb insert beneath the stainless steel plate is the only "protection."

Are you having the same trouble with your shower drain? Besides harsh chemicals, I don’t know what else I could try.

No, we haven’t used ours yet. But I was already a bit concerned during installation. Unlike drainage outlets installed under shower trays, you basically never get access to the trap, which is only integrated as a bend inside the drain. I guess the only way to clear it is by using a drain snake...
