ᐅ Is Taking a Break from Studies for Building a House a Good Idea?

Hello everyone,

We haven’t started building yet, but I would like to plan a leave of absence from my technical school because of the time commitment that building a house requires. When is the best time to apply for a leave? During construction or after completion?

The construction company will handle the building work up to and including painting and flooring.
I will have the exterior landscaping done as much as possible within my budget. It doesn’t all have to be completely finished at once; the most important things are drainage, driveway, terrace, and main entrance (move-in ready).
According to our plan, construction was supposed to start in April 2018, but it has been delayed. I expect the work to begin in May or June and to take no longer than 8 months.
(Leave of absence from the beginning of April to the end of September, or from the beginning of October to the end of March)

What has been your experience, and when do most people usually need time off?

Thank you very much
Reza

Pinch and press the corners together to join.

Everything is possible! What else do you have to do during construction besides selecting finishes? Nothing, except occasionally writing emails. You probably won’t be holding the brick trowel much.

Many things are possible, but it wouldn’t be for me. I know some people who are already struggling with part-time technical studies. I completed mine full-time.

Four semesters means it’s almost over, right? You will likely have to complete some final projects. At that time, I wouldn’t want to be occupied with my construction work on the side. If construction really starts in May or June, I would take a break from April to September. During that period, I would plan the details, select finishes, plan the electrical installation, kitchen layout, and everything else that can be prepared beforehand. By October, the building should be enclosed, and you will have a good idea of how the construction is progressing.

This is just my opinion on the whole matter, but some may find it much less problematic.
