A rotary dimmer will always operate with a rotary potentiometer (and cannot be smart), whereas a push-button dimmer can also work with step control.

They operate via Eltakos in the distribution board, which is why there is also a wireless push button. Conclusion: rotary push buttons do exist, but at least ours are not very intuitive.
