Franziska B.26 Sep 2023 10:32Hello everyone,
our new double garage was delivered recently. We are now wondering if the roof joint between our garage and the neighboring garage needs to be sealed. Our garage is about 10cm (4 inches) higher than the neighbor’s garage. The team that installed the garage said that sealing by a roofer is not necessary. I am concerned about what happens to the rainwater that flows into the gap between the two garages on the roof.
Best regards,
Franziska

Unfortunately, I don’t have a specific procedural suggestion for you, but I can confirm that this area should not be left to the natural flow of water, in my opinion. Thank you for the unusually detailed illustrations in your question, especially considering it’s for newcomers.

Hello Franziska,
I would suggest installing a track that connects both parts.
It’s probably not absolutely necessary, but it ensures a clean solution. You won’t have any mold problems caused by moisture, and your neighbor will also be protected against dampness. After all, there will be less wind reaching that area now, so it dries less effectively on their side. Since you built an extension and are also higher, you are somewhat responsible for this now.
