ᐅ Interesting Building Plot – Radon Exposure and Mining

Hello everyone,

I have found an interesting building plot and am currently carefully reading through the zoning plan and its explanation.

Two issues worry us, and I hope to get your opinions.

If I understand correctly, the radon level is at a maximum of 80, which is within the acceptable (healthy?) range. Still, protective measures are recommended?
Regarding the mining risk, I’m completely uncertain. There is mention of subsidence and collapse hazards as well as filled-in shafts. Does this mean I have a former landfill underneath?

How can I protect myself against these risks? What costs might arise?
What about the construction of a well, pond, and basement?

Would you advise me to look for a different plot?

Best regards,
Yours, Häuslebauer85

Interesting topic about radon. Wikipedia has a page on radon protection. Apparently, it is possible to seal the slab or basement against it and also address it through indoor ventilation.

What is the unit for the value 80? kBq/m³?

Those who are concerned about radon should avoid living in Bavaria. There are entire regions with levels above 100 kBq/m³. I recommend moving to Lower Saxony or Brandenburg.

Map of Germany showing radon concentration in soil gas (kBq/m^3) and city names.

It’s interesting how small the world is; for me, it’s actually the opposite.
So, hello to the neighborhood!

Neukirchen-Vluyn (if you can pronounce it correctly, you’re allowed to live there) or Kamp-Lintfort (where Alfred’s grandma used to live, but you probably don’t know him), I guess

I don’t know Alfred or his grandma either, but I’m happy to say hello to the neighbor! It’s a small world.
