Hello,
for our new build, we are doing the insulation of the attic ourselves, which I would like to convert into living space.
The rafter thickness is 24cm (9.5 inches). I have read a lot about wood fiber insulation for protection against heat buildup and am now wondering what thickness of the material I should use. Is wood fiber really necessary, or would mineral wool also be sufficient to protect against external heat given the thickness of up to 24cm (9.5 inches)?
Alternatively, I was thinking of using 22cm (8.7 inches) of mineral wool as insulation between the rafters and 6cm (2.4 inches) of wood fiber as insulation below the rafters. Or is that redundant?
Thanks for your suggestions and happy holidays!
