We are planning to buy the IKEA Backabro sofa with chaise lounge. There are two beige upholstery options:
Tygelsjö beige for €599:
Risane Natur for €799:
The only apparent difference seems to be the upholstery fabric:
Upholstery for sofa bed with chaise lounge:
Tygelsjö: Overall composition: 65% polyester, 35% cotton
Risane: Overall composition: 53% linen, 47% viscose
My question:
How does the different fabric composition affect daily use (linen/viscose versus polyester/cotton)?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?
Previously, one of the fabrics was said to be non-washable (if I remember correctly). That is no longer the case. A few months ago at an IKEA store, the salesperson implied that the cheaper option was better. However, I didn’t follow up on this because we hadn’t yet decided on the Backabro (we were initially considering the Vilasund).
Could someone help me with this decision?

Juliette W11 Nov 2016 17:30Oh, regarding my initial question about the fabric: we chose Tygelsjö. Apparently, this fabric is somewhat more dimensionally stable and doesn’t dent as easily as Risane, for example. Since I don’t have Risane myself, I can’t really compare.
In any case, we are very happy with Tygelsjö because it hasn’t warped at all. However, with this light fabric on the seating areas, we use matching (light-colored) throws. It’s easier to wash throws than sofa covers.
