Hello everyone!
I’ve often heard the saying, “Your first house is built for an enemy” — I wouldn’t put it quite that harshly, but after a year in a new build, I understand what they meant. 😀 Since we might move again, I’d like to collect some ideas here and benefit from your experiences: What would you do differently if you were to build again?
Here’s what I’ve noted so far:
What about you?

Here’s what I’ve noted so far:
- electric roller shutters
- thermostats with displays
- larger storage room
- less awkwardly shaped rooms
- dedicated cloakroom area
- wooden window sills (?)
- more outdoor power outlets
- power outlets in window frames
What about you?

Well, I didn’t mention anything about parties, celebrations, or anything like that, nor about alcohol or excessive consumption of anything. I didn’t talk about quantity, whisky, or losing control… and my contribution is probably far from “knocking out brain cells from the attic.” Which word exactly triggered you? Yours, maybe, regarding the “village sports field”? In times of Corona, not much is allowed to happen there...
And yes, the mind is probably needed by more than just you. I’m honestly a bit confused!

Just kidding, it’s not that bad, but we really aren’t party animals. Big celebrations with lots of alcohol are something we only do twice a year. In general, alcohol consumption is currently so embedded, established, and accepted in society (probably regardless of region) that, just because of our attitude toward drunkenness, we exclude ourselves from a lot of things.
That doesn’t bother me much, though. I just want peace and to meet carefully selected people with whom I enjoy spending time, and vice versa. Quality over quantity. My husband also likes a whisky now and then, but not to the point of losing control. None of us can handle much, and since we earn our living with our minds, neither of us is interested in regularly knocking out a few more brain cells.

And yes, your brain isn’t the only one that’s needed. I’m honestly a bit puzzled now! No, it wasn’t really about what you wrote. More about the idea of “joining in somewhere.” I was thinking about where around here one could get involved, and most opportunities do seem to come with an expectation of alcohol consumption.
So, not referring to you, but more to people in this area or generally in “villages.”

Real fun lovers – and you still haven’t been invited to the sports field? 😉

fun troublemakers—and you haven’t been invited to the sports field yet? 😉No, luckily not! It’s a mystery to me as well how that happened, especially since we place the highest importance on that!kati1337 schrieb:
We should build a computer scientist’s house—just a basement, nothing else. From above, the property would basically look undeveloped. Pinkiponk schrieb:
What? You don’t live in a cleanroom? ;-) Then you really should move. ;-) For some reason, I’m currently thinking of Rico Sander and his Amelie from "Soko Stuttgart," and of Sagrotan wipes and color-sorted gummy bears. But just a bunker would be too little for me; there would have to be at least a fake holiday home above ground, because I need daylight for breakfast 🙂
