ᐅ How durable are IKEA PLATSA furniture units after multiple moves?

Hello everyone,

I am currently looking into the stability of IKEA Platsa furniture, especially in the context of multiple moves. Since this furniture series is often rebuilt and reassembled due to its modular design, I specifically wonder: How durable are Platsa units after several assembly and disassembly processes? Are there any experiences regarding how the construction, which usually consists of metal frames and shelves, holds up over time and through moves?

I am particularly interested in whether the connecting elements (dowels, screws, metal fittings) lose stability from frequent dismantling and reassembling. It would also be helpful to know if there are any assembly tips to increase durability or if wear and tear from moving is generally unavoidable.

Thanks in advance for your insights and experiences!

That’s why it’s important to check all parts with every move and replace any worn components if necessary.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! Overall, it sounds like the furniture series is quite suitable for moving, as long as you pay some attention and check the screws.

I’m curious: Are there any particular connectors or components in Platsa that tend to be more prone to wear based on experience? And can standard replacement parts be easily purchased, or is it better to buy new modules when wear occurs?

Looking forward to your tips!
