ᐅ How Much Space Is Needed for a Geothermal Borehole?

So far, our information is that it requires a space of 4 x 8 meters (13 x 26 feet). 😱 (single-family house)

The company is busy for years and has no interest in coming by for a consultation beforehand.

The drilling does not have a very large diameter… I assume the space is needed for the drilling work. Afterwards (hopefully) not much will be visible.

My wife is concerned that the entire front yard will be "destroyed," and so far I haven’t been able to convince her otherwise because I don’t know any better myself 🙄

Does anyone have pictures of this kind of work on a house?

"Closing part of the street and the sidewalk"
that could become a problem because: the street is just wide enough for the fire department to pass when we park on the sidewalk (which is allowed here) – but closing more than that is not possible.

It is a sloped plot of land with the street at the top.
The building services are located in a convenient position (close to the street).

Although we have a spacious garden, it is quite steep everywhere and can only be accessed via neighboring properties (therefore, I would be glad if we do not have to rely on that).

And the drilling position is not arbitrary either. In Baden-Württemberg, it must be at least 5 meters (16 feet) away from the boundary... if it needs to be closer, the neighbor must agree...

I'm curious to see how this is regulated here in Hesse.

But "the neighbor" is initially the street in this case...

It depends on the drilling. Large machines for many meters, small machines for fewer meters.
Has this already been calculated? Heat load? What is the ground’s thermal conductivity in W/m?
