I have a question that probably concerns many of you, especially if you rely on the IKEA Hemnes range: How durable are IKEA Hemnes furniture pieces with daily use? I'm interested in the longevity of the drawers and hinges as well as the surfaces under regular wear and tear. Are there any experiences regarding wear, material fatigue, or deformation when, for example, using the Hemnes dresser or Hemnes bed every day? And if anyone knows of differences between the various furniture items, please feel free to share. I'm considering getting this range but want to avoid furniture that wears out too quickly or requires frequent repairs.

I would like to address this point once more before finishing. The drawers and door hinges of Hemnes have the advantage of being quite accessible and replaceable, which is a major benefit in case of damage or wear. The downside of the simple metal runners is that they can become stiff over time. It is worth using lubricants as suggested; silicone sprays from hardware stores are ideal because they do not attract dust.

Regarding the surface: The commonly used acrylic or lacquer coating provides good protection against moisture and scratches, but with daily use in a family household with children, the coating may develop fine cracks or become dull after several years. Regular maintenance with wood oil or special care products for lacquered surfaces can help delay this.

It is also important not to overload the furniture, for example by placing heavy items on the drawers or pressing on one spot continuously. If these precautions are followed, I consider a durability of at least 7 years under daily use realistic, often even longer.
