Hello everyone,
I am currently working on a project to assemble IKEA Hemnes furniture pieces such as dressers, shelves, or nightstands as efficiently and sensibly as possible with two people. My specific question is: what strategies or ways of dividing the work make assembling these items with two people most effective and least stressful, especially considering some parts can be quite bulky or heavy? Does anyone have proven tips for handling the components, the assembly process, or the workflow (preparing screws, sorting parts, etc.)?
I am particularly interested in points like:
- How is it best to divide the tasks? Who should take on which roles?
- Are there specific preparation steps that are better done beforehand?
- Is it better to have all the tools ready at the start, or to find them as needed during assembly?
I would be very grateful for any helpful experiences or little âtricks.â I want to keep the process as smooth and pleasant as possible to avoid wasting unnecessary time.
Thank you in advance for your support!

Oh, and one more thing: If you have the heavy parts, itâs better to carry them to the installation site together.Exactly! đ It really saves a lot of stress when the furniture is already where it belongs. And a little tip from me: donât forget to take breaks! Especially when screwing takes a while or the instructions are a bit tricky, a short coffee break can work wonders.

Communication is key: clarify before each step who wants to take on what. You really canât say that enough. A few simple coordination techniques create a relaxed atmosphere and good teamwork. Good luck with the assembly â youâve got this!
