Hello everyone, I have some surfaces on my Ikea Brimnes furniture that have small scratches and some chipping from normal use. The carcass panels are melamine-coated and have a fairly smooth, white surface. My question is how to best repair these damaged areas without causing an irregular or visibly altered finish. Are there specific repair materials recommended for melamine resin-coated surfaces on Ikea furniture like Brimnes? Which tools and steps are advisable to achieve the most inconspicuous and durable repair? I have considered filler, touch-up pens, or special repair kits but am unsure which material fits best and how to apply it to preserve the surface texture. Thanks for your experiences and advice!

I wanted to share how well the repairs on my Brimnes are going! I followed the tips here and used a white repair pen plus a spatula. The result turned out really great, and you can hardly see any damage anymore!

Yes, definitely use repair kits from furniture stores or DIY centers specifically designed for melamine or plastic surfaces – they are easy to work with and usually match the color quite well.

Don’t hesitate, it works better than you expect! 🙂
