Hello everyone,

I am currently facing the task of organizing my Ikea Pax wardrobe optimally and want to plan it thoroughly this time. I especially wonder: How do I plan the interior organization of my Ikea Pax properly, so that I make the most of the available storage space while keeping everything clearly sorted and having quick access to the most important clothing items?

I already have some basic ideas but am unsure how to best combine the individual components—such as shelves, hanging rods, drawers, and possibly accessories like storage boxes—to accommodate different types of clothing (e.g., shirts, pants, sweaters) in a practical way.

Additionally, I am interested in any recommendations for useful partitions and organizational aids you use in your Pax, particularly with regard to seasonal clothing changes.

Thanks in advance for your tips and experiences!

What is your ceiling height and do you already have the interior fittings of the Pax unit itself?

Thank you all for the helpful comments! Regarding the dimensions: My Pax unit is about 236 cm (7 ft 9 in) high, 100 cm (39 in) wide, and 60 cm (24 in) deep, so quite a standard model. I don’t have the full interior fittings yet, I’m currently deciding which set of shelves and hanging rods to choose.

As for clothing storage, I have many trousers and shirts, plus some thick sweaters and jackets. Small items like socks and underwear need to be well organized, but I don’t want drawers that are too large, as that would waste unnecessary space.

For seasonal storage, I’m planning to keep at least summer and winter jackets in the upper section where I don’t need frequent access.

My biggest concern is making good use of the height without storing too many heavy items up high – your tips have made this clear to me.

Do you have specific recommendations on how many shelves and hanging rods I should plan for with these dimensions?
