Hello everyone, I have an IKEA Malm chest of drawers and have noticed several times that the drawers come out on their own when I load them fully or pull them out a bit roughly. This is very frustrating, and I want to avoid them getting damaged or falling out completely.

Can someone provide a detailed explanation on how to reliably prevent the Malm drawers from falling out? Specific mechanical advice regarding the drawer slide mechanism or tips to stop the drawer from slipping out of the guide profile would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance!

I would like to add a factual note to this topic:

The Malm series uses drawer slides with integrated anti-drop mechanisms. However, these safety features are often simple plastic stoppers that can break or loosen over time. The most common reason why drawers fall out is the failure or absence of these stoppers.

Recommendation:
- Replace damaged stoppers with original spare parts or high-quality alternatives.
- Pay close attention to the exact mounting height and alignment of the slides during assembly, as even small deviations can prevent proper locking.

Additionally, be cautious of overloading: the manufacturer’s warranty does not cover damage caused by excessive loading or forceful removal.

Conclusion: Proper installation, functioning stoppers, and careful loading can effectively prevent drawers from falling out.
