I have noticed that the screws in my Ikea Metod kitchen frequently loosen, especially on the cabinet doors and at the mounting points of the carcasses. The problem is that while the screws hold initially, over time the constant stress and opening and closing motions cause them to become loose. I am looking for a permanent solution to secure these screws firmly and stably, without having to constantly tighten them or damage the wood. Does anyone have experience or tips on how to permanently fix these loose screws in Ikea Metod kitchen furniture? Are there proven techniques or specific products that can help? I am particularly interested in how to reinforce the often very soft particleboard in the furniture so that the screws hold reliably. Any assistance is appreciated!

Would you recommend enlarging the hole beforehand or working with the existing drilling?

To use inserts, you need to adjust the hole; otherwise, they won't fit. This is normal when you want to improve stability.

The drill hole should be precisely drilled to match the insert diameter so they fit tightly and provide a strong thread.

That's exactly right. It may seem complicated at first, but if you carefully follow the intermediate repair steps, it will last much longer than regular screws. I understand that this might seem excessive to some, but for high-stress areas in the kitchen, the extra effort is definitely worth it.
