Hello everyone, I am looking for innovative ways to optimize storage space usage in IKEA Metod base cabinets. My goal is not only to use the available space efficiently but also to improve access to stored items and enhance organization. The interior fittings of the cabinets with standard shelves and drawers often seem underutilized to me. Do you have any ideas, such as clever inserts, special organizers, or even DIY solutions that integrate well into Metod base cabinets? I would also appreciate tips for less frequently used areas, like internal pull-outs, narrow compartments, or the doors!
Interesting discussion here! I would like to critically question whether the fundamental issue is often overlooked when searching for innovative solutions: Do we really need more storage space, or is it more efficient to first optimize the amount of stored items?
Physically fitting in more only offers limited benefits if the space is occupied by unnecessary clutter. This also includes a regular decluttering strategy and aiming for an organized system.
If you really need more volume, modular adjustable shelves and internal drawers are useful. Besides that, custom-made partition walls using thin plywood panels can allow for more precise adjustments than many ready-made products from IKEA.

For quick access, I recommend installing narrow drawer inserts that can be pulled out fully. These work especially well in deep base cabinets.
Also, lighting should not be underestimated: LED strips along the inner edge ensure that everything is clearly visible, even in dark corners.

Use a pull-out system for heavy pots. This is definitely my recommendation as well. It not only makes organizing much easier but also protects your back thanks to the simpler handling.
