Hello everyone,
I recently installed Ikea Metod base cabinets in my kitchen and am now facing the challenge of optimizing the storage space as efficiently as possible, especially with innovative solutions. I’m not just looking to use standard organizing systems like shelves or simple baskets, but really creative and space-saving ideas to better utilize hard-to-reach areas.
I am particularly interested in drawer and pull-out systems that go beyond the usual standard grids, possibilities for vertical use inside the cabinet, as well as tips to improve space utilization for bulky kitchen utensils and pantry items. If you have experience with custom dividers, flexible partition systems, or DIY solutions, I would be very grateful if you could share them.
How do you specifically approach organizing your Metod base cabinets to maximize storage capacity? Which innovative ideas or modifications work best for you?
Thanks in advance for your tips!

I can fully understand how challenging the topic of storage optimization is – I struggled with fitting out my Ikea Metod base cabinets myself for a long time. It’s really important to start with a precise inventory: What actually needs space? What is used frequently?
Sometimes it helps to move away from the idea of storing everything inside the cabinet and instead consider adjacent areas.
I agree completely – the type and size of the items largely determine the best solution.
My recommendation: Keep a small log of what you use, how often, and how much space is wasted in the process. This brings clarity and helps in choosing the best organizational aids.
Be patient, it’s worth it!
