Hello everyone,
I removed the carpet in one room, and underneath there was an old PVC floor that has to remain in place. Now, the floor is covered with carpet residue that can only be removed with a scraper. But if I have to scrape everything off, it will take weeks, and it’s also strongly adhered to the PVC. What can I do?

Richard-18 Feb 2015 15:40We once had to remove a particularly stubborn carpet adhesive. We started by treating the adhesive with water and dish soap, but this had little effect. Then we used a floor grinder, which worked reasonably well.

herrmann-17 Mar 2015 09:41I’ve just been through the same. But using water and dish soap didn’t work. Then I tried a solvent. That was tough work as well, but eventually, I succeeded. Just don’t forget to ventilate, as it has a strong smell.
I took care of this at my mother’s place over the weekend. However, the carpet remnants there were really stubborn. Using my heat gun didn’t help.
So I rented a machine, and then got to work. It wasn’t easy, but over time I learned how to handle the machine. The result looked impressive there.
