Hello everyone, I have been having a problem with my IKEA Hemnes bed for some time. It squeaks quite loudly and annoyingly, especially when I move or turn over. I suspect the issue might be with the fastenings or the slatted bed base, but I'm not sure how to approach this systematically.

I have already tried tightening all the screws, but this only helped to a limited extent. Are there any proven methods or special tips to permanently eliminate these squeaking noises? Maybe someone has experience with the Hemnes bed frame and can offer advice on what to pay attention to?

I would really appreciate detailed feedback, ideally with step-by-step suggestions. Thanks!

You should only apply the felt strips at points where two wooden surfaces directly touch each other and cause noise. They are very thin, so the stability of the slatted frame is not affected.

It’s best to test it first at one or two spots before covering everything.

I would add: Sometimes the cause is loose metal bed angles.

These should be checked and tightened if necessary.

Even small hairline cracks in the wood at contact points can cause noises, so a close visual inspection is important.

Good tip! Today I checked all the metal brackets and found that some screws were slightly loose. After tightening them securely, the squeaking has already become noticeably quieter.

I will also try the suggested felt strips and possibly some furniture wax as additional measures.

Thanks to everyone for the helpful advice! If the problem is completely resolved, I will provide feedback again.
