Hello everyone, I am planning to install Ikea Metod kitchen cabinets in my kitchen, which unfortunately has a lower ceiling height of only 220 cm (7 ft 3 in). However, the standard height of the Metod tall cabinets is 240 cm (7 ft 10 in), meaning that the standard version cannot be fully assembled in my space. My specific question is: What options are there to safely and securely install Ikea Metod cabinets with a lower ceiling height without compromising functionality? Are there any proven methods or alternatives you would recommend? I would appreciate any tips, including advice on adjusting the carcass, base, or using other components to ensure the installation is optimal.

The best approach for lower ceiling heights is usually a combination of precise measurements and custom adjustments to the plinth height as well as the top panels.
It is important not to compromise the cabinet structure by improperly shortening the carcasses.
If you have some DIY skills, individual components can be modified; otherwise, use the official filler panel that can be mounted above the cabinets.
In any case, adjustments should be planned in advance, especially for tall cabinets. Installing the units step by step and checking the height after setting them up helps to identify issues early.
