Hello everyone,

I am currently considering purchasing several Ikea Hemnes furniture pieces and want to make sure I don’t overlook any potential quality issues before buying. The Hemnes series is known for its solid wood and traditional design, but I have come across some reports of manufacturing defects and long-term problems.

My specific question is: How can visible quality issues be reliably identified in Ikea Hemnes furniture right after unpacking or shortly after assembly, without waiting for signs of wear?

I would appreciate any advice on common weak points or materials that tend to cause problems in this series. Tips on how to properly check the surface finish, wood density, or joint components would also be very helpful.

Thank you in advance for your expertise!

In addition to the points mentioned, the packaging should also be inspected. Damage to the boxes or visible dents can be early signs of transport damage, which may later appear as quality defects.

It is also advisable to check the precision and cleanliness of pre-drilled holes and screw holes. Hemnes is not the cheapest model at Ikea, so higher standards of workmanship are expected here.

Finally, I recommend paying close attention to accurate alignment during assembly, as poor installation is often mistakenly perceived as a quality issue.
