Hello everyone, I need your help: I have a relatively small Ikea Pax wardrobe and want to maximize the storage space inside. It’s not just about storing items but also about smart organization, so I can neatly fit as many clothes, shoes, or accessories as possible without losing track of everything. Does anyone have good tips or tricks for optimizing a compact Pax wardrobe through clever interior adjustments or additional solutions? I have already considered extra shelves, boxes, and hanging rods, but I’m unsure how to best combine these or if there are specific products or DIY ideas that are especially effective. Are there practical experiences that have significantly increased storage space in small Pax wardrobes? Thanks in advance for your advice!

One reason why they are so effective: You use the space that would otherwise be completely wasted.

That may be true, but as well-intentioned as it is, I think it really only fits a collection of small items. You waste too much potential if you rely too much on door solutions, especially with small cabinets. The focus should be more on well-organized interior layouts.

Furthermore, I’m also skeptical about the concept of double hanging rails in a depth of 60 cm (24 inches). Doesn’t that make hanging clothes difficult and significantly reduce accessibility?

Regarding optimal storage design: Too much emphasis is often placed on standard solutions. Better results come from custom-made designs. While Ikea is good, it’s not everything — sometimes DIY or modifications pay off more to make the most out of a small space.

That’s a very valid point. To be precise, I had already suspected that myself. Perhaps the compromise is a clamp-on, extendable clothes rail that I could use only when needed.

I can understand that. I think I will rather use door solutions as a supplement so as not to unnecessarily reduce the main storage capacity. The combination with optimized interior fittings does seem to be the right approach.

Thanks to everyone already! I’m happy to share more recommendations if there are any practical product names or DIY ideas.
