Hello everyone,
I recently purchased an Ikea PAX wardrobe and made sure to assemble it correctly. However, I’m concerned that the painted surfaces, especially the inner sides of the wardrobe, are quite prone to scratches. Since I plan to use the wardrobe for both clothing and some more delicate items, I’m wondering: What is the best way to protect the surfaces and inner sides of an Ikea PAX wardrobe from scratches or other damage? Are there specific protective films, special maintenance methods, or maybe recommendations for shelves or similar accessories that have proven effective? I want to avoid the wardrobe showing signs of wear after a short time, especially since it is the relatively expensive PAX version. Thanks in advance for your tips and experiences!

Sources of error:
- Adhesive tapes with aggressive glue can damage the PAX surface.I think this is a very important tip. I once used a cheap film on my wardrobe that left residues after some time and slightly damaged the surface.
Besides the material aspect, I’m also concerned about furniture’s susceptibility to stress and daily wear – so I try to handle it as carefully as possible. Especially with PAX, since so much effort goes into the planning.

Gentle handling: Heavier items should ideally be placed on a cloth or use a spacer to avoid direct pressure on the surface. That helps me a lot, I completely agree. It sometimes feels like extra effort, but in the end, it’s worth it.
I would also recommend adapting protective measures according to how the furniture is used – for example, depending on whether an area is used frequently or only occasionally.
