Hello everyone,

I’d like to start a discussion with the question: How can Ikea Pax be optimally used or even improved for storing office supplies?

I have looked at the system and find it generally flexible and sturdy, but especially for office supplies—such as documents, pens, cables, small devices, or even bulkier items like binders and printer paper—the interior layout still needs some fine-tuning.

I’m particularly interested in which interior fittings (drawers, inserts, dividers, boxes) work best inside. Are there useful modifications or additions that not only optimize the available storage space but also make daily use easier?

Maybe you have personal experiences on how to adapt the typical Pax setup for a neat, efficient office without relying heavily on third-party accessories?

I look forward to your suggestions, specific approaches, or practical examples.

I would like to address this question again: For office supplies, flat drawer inserts with adjustable dividers are highly recommended. These allow flexible adaptation to various sized items such as USB sticks, cables, or pens.

Furthermore, pull-out document trays or hanging file systems can be integrated, which fit on specially installed rails. For larger devices like printers, it makes sense to position a single shelf level so that there is enough space while maintaining stability.

The option to install LED lighting also makes organization easier, as it ensures good visibility even during quick access late in the evening.

A combination of standard modular components with custom-made dividers (such as those made from wood or plastic sheets) often provides the best solution for flexible storage without having to drill into or heavily modify the cabinet.
