Hello everyone,

I recently assembled my IKEA Metod kitchen cabinets, but unfortunately, I noticed that the cabinets wobble slightly despite being put together correctly. I really made sure to follow the instructions carefully. I am particularly interested in how to permanently prevent the wobbling of the Metod cabinets, as I am concerned that large cabinets might become unstable or even tip over over time.

What measures – besides securely screwing them in – specifically help to reduce or completely eliminate this wobbling? I have considered different wall fastenings and additional braces, but I am unsure if this is the right approach. It would also be helpful to know if there are any special tips or mounting materials at IKEA or generally available that improve the stability of the cabinets.

I am looking forward to your experiences and advice!

Ivy49, I had exactly the same problem – really annoying! 😅 But instead of using self-adhesive felt pads under the cabinets, I switched to rubber pads. They provide better grip without causing misalignment.

And absolutely important: don’t worry if it wobbles during the initial assembly – for me, that was the trigger to reinforce things by adding extra screws through the back panel into the adjacent carcasses. Now everything is rock solid! You can do this!

- Check with a spirit level to ensure the cabinets are properly aligned.
- Adjust the cabinet legs individually as some IKEA legs can be easily adjusted.

Thanks for the tips, Katau. I noticed that although I leveled them, not all the legs were making full contact with the floor. I will check that more carefully.

- Use high-quality wall plugs that match the wall material (e.g., heavy-duty anchors for concrete).

This is an important point as well. I used standard plastic wall plugs, which might be the reason for the lack of stability. So I will switch to heavy-duty anchors.

Are there any other tips on how to best secure the cabinets against twisting after attaching them to the wall, in case that issue comes up again with the cross braces?
