Hello everyone, I have several Ikea Pax wardrobes at home and am looking for ways to make them childproof. The goal is to secure the wardrobes so that young children cannot access contents that are dangerous or unsuitable for them, while at the same time not compromising the stability and functionality of the wardrobes. I’m interested in practical, proven solutions you know of—sliding locks, internal latches, special child safety devices, or other modifications. Are there also experiences with safely anchoring them to prevent tipping? Which products or methods have proven particularly effective in practice? Thanks in advance for your tips and recommendations!

At first, I also had concerns that the safety locks might become too cumbersome, but my experience is that you get used to them quickly, and over time children no longer have a chance.

That exactly matches my experience! In the beginning, you might feel restricted, but safety for the kids is the most important thing. And you get used to how it works. This way, I manage to keep everything well organized and prevent the little ones from reaching anything dangerous.

Thank you very much for the many helpful answers and tips. I will likely use a combination of magnetic catches for the sliding door cabinet and internal bolts for the hinged doors. The cabinets will be securely fastened to the wall with appropriate wall plugs, and I will also check the handles for any climbing appeal. If I have any more questions, I will definitely get back in touch. Thank you for the supportive and factual discussion!
