Hello everyone,
I am looking for a good way to childproof the doors of my Ikea Besta cabinet, but I want to avoid visible locking mechanisms or large external latches. I’m looking for something that ensures safety without affecting the clean look of the doors or attaching noticeable locks on the outside.
My children are quite curious and like to open doors, so the solution should be reliable, easy to install, and leave no major marks in case I want to change it later.
Does anyone here have experience or tips on how to implement this specifically? I imagine that built-in magnetic or push-to-open locks might work, but I’m uncertain about the installation or operation with Besta doors.
Any ideas or products you have tested that are effective, discreet, and child-friendly are very welcome. Thanks in advance!

Well, I think if children are curious, you shouldn’t just completely block the doors – almost like a little secret hideout! 😄
Jokes aside, I find magnetic locks brilliant. Hidden, discreet, and somewhat like a secret weapon against little door openers.
That’s exactly what makes the difference: no fuss is needed, but you still protect the little treasure from unwanted openings.
If you decide on snap locks, make sure the adhesive points are strong; otherwise, the kids will win soon enough. But with magnetic locks, you don’t feel like you’re dealing with a high-security facility either. 😉

The magnetic key is very easy to use; you hold it against the door, the locked area reacts immediately, and it opens.
