Hello everyone,

I am desperately looking for creative ideas for a house with a granny flat. I have already spoken with an architect, but the ideas were not very helpful (a duplex with a different room layout).

I would prefer the granny flat to be only on the ground floor, and the main living area to occupy both the ground floor and the upper floor (1.5 stories). This results in a lot of space on the upper floor due to the building dimensions. Are there any creative and practical solutions to avoid having too much space? I would also really like to have a small extension with a flat roof, plastered in white.

Generally, I find few ideas online for houses with granny flats, so my question is: Are there any relevant websites or what would you recommend?

What options are there for granny flats – only on the ground floor, or one unit on the ground floor and another on the upper floor, or both units spanning ground and upper floors? I’m grateful for any tips, advice, or links with sketches! THANK YOU
