Hello

we are planning to build soon and will only have the shell structure constructed; we want to do the rest ourselves.
The insulation should be close to passive house standards.

Since we don't want oil or gas, we have considered heating with a fireplace in winter that has a water circulation system.
Does anyone have experience with this? Did I understand correctly that it then heats the whole house via pipes in the other rooms and also provides hot water?

In addition, we want to install solar panels on the roof, as we don’t want to use the fireplace in summer.

Does anyone have this technology or combination and can give me advice on whether it really gets warm enough and is sufficient?

Wood will never be a problem for us, we have a cheap local supplier and a friend with a forest who has more wood than he knows what to do with.

One more question: We are planning the house without a basement. The solar equipment is supposed to go under the roof near the garage. Do you also need anything for this fireplace system? (For example, a separate room for a water heater or something like that)

Thank you very much in advance
