Hello,

I have a general question about ventilation systems. We are planning to build a single-family house with about 190m² (2,045 sq ft). A conventional underfloor heating system will be installed on the ground floor. Since the design is very open, we do not plan to install underfloor heating on the upper floor (92m² (990 sq ft)) – heat naturally rises.

This means that heating the rooms on the upper floor will be quite slow. However, since the house is very well insulated, there is little heat loss to the outside. If it should still be necessary to heat one of the rooms on the upper floor independently and quickly, there is the option of using the ventilation system – here are my questions:

I have read about electric heating elements installed directly in the ventilation duct of the respective room. How effective are these? Heating directly with electricity is not very economical… Who offers such systems?

Are there ventilation solutions where heat exchangers are installed in the ventilation ducts of individual rooms, supplied by the main heating system (gas condensing boiler)? Who offers such systems? Or is it generally not done because of the complexity?

Thank you for your answers.

What about the upper floor?

Who said that? ;-)

How would that be possible?

Just consider the heating capacity that “air” can realistically provide in conventional ventilation systems! ;-)
Apparently, there is no mechanical engineering planner involved here! ;-)

Best regards.
