Hello everyone,

It is generally possible to operate a heat pump with underfloor heating on the ground floor and radiators on the upper floor. Has anyone had experience with this setup, or can share what to watch out for?

This is not a new build but a holiday home abroad. The floor on the ground floor needs to be broken up anyway, so underfloor heating will be installed there.

Thank you very much.

From my amateur understanding, heating with radiators is less efficient because higher temperatures are required. There are special low-temperature radiators available, but I doubt they can fully compensate for a floor heating system. However, I have no personal experience. There have been occasional cases of people building this way.

Of course, it also depends on the location of the vacation property and how it is used. Mallorca is certainly different to assess than a property in the Alps with heavy winter use.

Maybe you should provide more details. That would probably encourage more responses.

Additionally, based on my basic knowledge: If it cannot be avoided, do not combine radiators and underfloor heating in the same heating circuit. Use two separate heating circuits. This is also important because of rust and debris in the heating water.
