Hello, I need some help. We installed recessed lights in our drywall ceiling. To protect against heat damage, we mounted spacers behind the lamps. Now my problem is this: directly behind one hole there is a thick wooden beam measuring about 50cm by 50cm (20 inches by 20 inches). Unfortunately, we had to cut a hole into the beam; otherwise, the lamp wouldn’t fit. There is no space for a spacer. Can I line the cut-out hole with something to provide heat protection? If so, with what? Heat-resistant paint used for stoves? Titanium heat-resistant tape or just simple aluminum tape? Maybe someone has some advice.

Why not use LEDs? They hardly get warm or don’t heat up at all. No clearance is needed.

Unfortunately, this does not fit into the routed hole; I would need to rout more of the beam, which I prefer not to do.

I have LEDs, but they still get quite warm.
