ᐅ General contractor requests construction supervision from DEKRA

Hello,
we are in the process of hiring a general contractor, and during the last discussion, the topic of construction supervision came up. I mentioned that I would prefer this to be handled by TÜV or Bauherren-Schutzbund, but my counterpart suggested why not DEKRA.
When I asked several times why specifically DEKRA, the answer was that their company has a "framework agreement" with DEKRA.

This made me a bit suspicious – isn’t the main purpose of construction supervision to be independent from the construction company? If DEKRA has a framework agreement with the company, wouldn’t that actually be a reason for me to hire TÜV, for example...

Am I being too distrustful? What do you think?

We hired the TÜV; it is not cheap, but so far we are satisfied. Of course, this is a subjective assessment.

The other posts here are the same, even if the wording suggests otherwise. So in that respect, it’s fine 😉

@toxicmolotow Hmm, thanks for your assessment. Why do you think an independent expert is more suitable than one from TÜV, DEKRA, or similar organizations?

The point about pricing is a good one. For example, the 5-phase inspection from TÜV costs around 3300€ (about $3600). If you don’t get a proper evaluation for that, it obviously doesn’t make sense. However, if we’re talking about significantly higher amounts, you have to wonder whether that is reasonable for a standard single-family home. What do you think?

3300 euros is quite a lot of money for the inspection. An independent external expert will not (or hardly) cost more, as long as everything goes reasonably smoothly.

The expert must, of course, be independent and must not be on the payroll or client list of the manufacturer of the property being inspected.

Which expert you choose is entirely up to you and does not need to concern the construction company. As long as you work with a general contractor, they can’t do much about it because it is your land and you can invite whoever you want. It might be different with property developers, since in that case the developer owns the land and has the right of ownership and control, etc.

This is probably about the intermediate and final inspections that almost every provider now carries out with TÜV/Dekra. Or am I mistaken?

@Treppauf your problem is that you simply make unfounded claims without any basis. I have tried to point this out to you before, but you took it as a threat.
