Hello,
at the beginning of this year, I was able to acquire a reasonably affordable single-family house.

Currently, there is an oil heating system installed from 2004 (Buderus G115).

The company Thüga Energienetze will be excavating the street in a few months to expand the gas network connection. So far, 19 households have joined in, and I am considering whether I should participate as well.

Cost approximately 1,250€

In view of the current developments, I was hoping to gather some experiences regarding the best option for the future, including possible funding opportunities.

I would appreciate any feedback,

Thank you very much

I agree with the others, even if you want to stick with oil, you should have the connection installed at this price.

Over the weekend, I spoke with an energy consultant who suggested switching to renewable energy sources (pellets, heat pumps, fuel cells, or solar).

However, I also think that the approximately €1,200 (about $1,300) is not a bad investment.

On the other hand, Thüga is offering me something that will be banned in 4 years… it does feel a bit strange.

The main question is whether you want to switch as cost-effectively as possible or with sustainability as your priority. Gas still remains one of the most affordable options.

With the natural gas connection, you can also operate a fuel cell. You probably would not really want a hydrogen tank in your basement.
