Hello everyone,

we have a prefabricated timber frame house.

I just noticed a gap in one of the walls that seems larger than before. (Pictures are attached)

Could it be that the wall has “settled”? The screed was installed just yesterday.

Do you think this gap is too large and concerning? If so, how should it be closed? I assume not by foam filling 🙂 I have the impression the manufacturer will simply cover it when plastering.

Thank you very much

Steffen

Is this an interior wall? And does picture 3 basically show the view into the gap? Then it seems as if the gap on the other side is sealed with an insulation strip or something similar. Unfortunately, the pictures are only partly helpful, as it is not clear what type of wall this is.

These are exterior walls. In the picture, you can see the view from the outside looking at the wooden stud frame of the wall on the inside (so yes, image 3 shows the view of the gap from outside). Here, the living room wall meets the kitchen bay window wall.

Does no one have an opinion about this?

Yes; but the photos are not very informative. Additionally, it is unclear to what extent these are system-related within the framework of your prefab home builder; you cannot really inspect it yourself.

It’s best to ask your site manager.

I would also contact the construction manager about this. They should take care of it...
