Dear community,

I would like to install granite curbstones (8x25x100 cm (3x10x40 inches)) as an edging around my property. Afterwards, a double-wire mesh fence will be concreted behind the curbstones.

I have a question regarding the foundation. What material should I use for the drainage/clean layer? I have heard very different opinions on this. Some say that mineral concrete 0/32 is the right choice because it can be compacted well with a vibratory plate. A landscaper, on the other hand, recommends gravel with a grain size of 16/32 mm (5/8 inch to 1 1/4 inches), since gravel offers much better drainage and more space in the pores for freezing water. Others argue that gravel with a grain size of 16/32 mm (5/8 inch to 1 1/4 inches) cannot be compacted and is therefore unsuitable.

Could you please give me a recommendation?

Thank you very much.
