Hello forum,

I am looking for someone who can redesign my website to make it more visually appealing.

I believe the current design – I’m not a programmer – looks a bit dull. All texts and images are ready. The domains are secured and not managed by the mentioned "website builder company." I want the site to be hosted independently.

COMPENSATION:

Please provide sketches (even rough ones are fine). I will create the house plans at a scale of 1:100. Floor plans, elevations, and 2 sections. Only a single-family house with a maximum of 2 full stories, possibly with a basement. Further details can be discussed. Please send a private message.

Thank you and best regards, Andreas

... over the past few years, I have spent a lot of money on websites and online marketing, but it has brought little result. That’s why I have now done everything myself. Maybe using Xing is not a bad idea; I’ll give it a try.

Thanks and regards

WordPress can also be installed on your own web hosting space, which allows you to freely choose your domain name. However, you will need a hosting package that includes a database, PHP, etc., and, of course, the necessary technical knowledge. Additionally, you are responsible for security updates, spam protection, and so on, which is usually the biggest challenge as the website becomes more popular.

Alternatively, you can redirect an inexpensive starter domain package to another web hosting space to have your own custom domain name.
(for example, redirecting kosan.de to wordpress.kosan.de) To my knowledge, it is often possible to configure this so that the original domain remains visible in the browser even after the redirection.

So I understood correctly – as FrankH already said, having your own domain, your own hosting, and everything will be fine 😉
Without WordPress in the domain name 😉

Just a tip: Don’t choose a host that is too cheap!
I usually recommend artfiles.de if you don’t want a mass hosting provider.

The best approach is to join a regional group on Xing and attend the meetups. This often leads to many synergies (at least one in five members works in web design or psychological coaching 🙂).

With WordPress, you get your own domain (without wordpress.com...), but 1&1 also offers DIY website builders that are relatively affordable and easy to create yourself. I was always ranked first in Google searches with those as well, so they shouldn’t be underestimated! I believe you can also try them out initially without commitment.

Ok, thanks very much for the suggestions. I think using Xing is not a bad idea.

Hi kosan,
I have been designing and programming websites for over 15 years, and unfortunately, I have to say that the time required to create a complete website including a CMS is not comparable to making a few sketches—unless you use a pre-made template (there are some nice ones) and just insert your logo and change the colors. Simply optimizing images and setting up texts can take hours.
I personally prefer Joomla over WordPress 😉
