Hello,
who has a saltwater pool and would like to share some experiences?
- Advantages / disadvantages?
- (Conversion) costs?
- Ongoing expenses?
- Sensations while swimming / diving (smell / stinging / ...?) --> children?
- Cleanliness and manual regulation options
Our pool is made of concrete, lined with a membrane. The ladder / outlets for the circulation system and counter-current may be aluminum, I need to take a closer look when we "unpack" it soon. Those might need to be replaced?
I look forward to your recommendations / concerns and wish you a pleasant Easter weekend!

SteffenBank9 Jul 2021 08:49It hasn’t been decided yet what type of filtration system to use. If you have any advice, please share it. As mentioned, the pool holds 8m³ (8,000 liters) of water.
I would choose a 400-size filter tank with a 6-8m³ (6-8 cubic yards) pump.
You need the correct amount of sand. Only then will the filtration work well.
Affordable options cost between 300-400€ (Euros). This is sufficient for your pool.
With a Speck pump and higher-quality tank, the Bilbao 400 with Speck pump is an option. However, it is significantly more expensive (nearly 700€).

CunigundBarlha25 Aug 2022 10:47I have never heard of a saltwater pool before, but it sounds kind of interesting. It does somewhat imitate a seaside atmosphere.
It is not as salty as seawater.
The difference is that chlorine is produced from the water by electrolysis. Therefore, the salt level in the water needs to be checked regularly (if the electrolysis system does not do this automatically) and the electrodes must be replaced every 1-2 years.
It also requires more electricity and salt.
The chlorine level in the water is the same as in a pool disinfected directly with chlorine.
